Subsidies Flemish Region

Brantsandpatents is registered as a recognized provider of the SME e-wallet of the Flemish Government. The patent department of brantsandpatents can provide you with an initial opinion on the patentability of your invention or concept. Such an advice qualifies for the SME e-wallet. Even other advices such as a freedom to operate advice are eligible for the SME e-wallet.

The SME e-wallet is a measure that gives you – as entrepreneur – the financial support to stimulate innovation in your company. This means that a part of the patentability opinion can be financed by the government.

On the VLAIO website you will find the conditions that you must meet to be eligible for the subsidy.

The procedure for applying for the subsidy is very simple and can be found on the website www.KMO-portefeuille.be. The preparation of an extensive file in advance is not necessary. Check whether your company is eligible and apply for an SME e-wallet. Do this within 14 calendar days after the start of the project. Should you have any questions, brantsandpatents is of course at your service to assist you with the application process.

Subsidies for research and development

In an innovation allowance file of the Flanders for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, the costs for protecting your intellectual property, can be included up to a maximum of 20,000 euros. It concerns preparation costs, such as a freedom to operate analysis and registration and filing costs of patent applications (with the exception of maintenance fees and costs in the context of a legal dispute).
