Subsidies Brussels Capital Region

Brussels-based SMEs can receive financial support for both patent filings and external consultancy assignments aimed at specific business needs.

Patent Subsidy

Brussels SMEs may apply for funding to cover the costs associated with filing and obtaining patents. This includes expenses such as patent drafting, translation fees, administrative costs, and more. The subsidy can be requested for a maximum period of three years through Innoviris (the Brussels Institute for Research and Innovation). It is important to apply for the subsidy before submitting your patent application.

Consultancy Premium

In addition, companies based in Brussels can apply for a consultancy premium to cover up to 70% of the costs for external consultancy services. The premium is intended for services such as strategic analyses, legal studies (excluding litigation), technical studies, and management advice. The consultancy must be exceptional in nature and aimed at solving a one-time problem that cannot be addressed internally.

Both forms of support aim to help Brussels-based SMEs strengthen their innovation capacity and market position, and to stimulate business development.

How to apply

To apply for the patent subsidy, you can download the application form from the Innoviris website. For the consultancy premium, applications must be submitted through MijnBEW. Please note: consultancy applications must be submitted before the consultancy work begins.
