Ken Houben is Patent Adviser. He obtained a Master in Bio engineering Sciences at the Catholic University of Leuven. As a doctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Food Technology, he studied the structuring of plant-based foods by means of selective pre-treatment of raw materials.
Ken’s activities at brantsandpatents include drafting patent applications and handling grant procedures, as well as advising clients on patentability, freedom to operate and infringement.
He has supported many SMEs and also large companies in obtaining Belgian patents and the related innovation income deduction (IDD). He also has an extensive experience in European and global (PCT) patent proceedings.
His field of work is in the food and food and nutrition industry, chemistry (including plant protection products), pharmacy and general engineering.
Ken is fluent in Dutch and English and has a basic command of French and working knowledge of German.
