Frédérique Timan

IP legal counsel

Frédérique Timan graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Amsterdam. In 2010, she obtained the degree of Master in Intellectual Property Law at the Institute for Information Law. Furthermore, she has been registered with the Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law (BMM) as BMM Attorney since 2014, and with the European Trademark Office as a European Trademark and Design Attorney.

Frédérique was already part of the brantsandpatents team (Ghent) between 2015 and 2018, and before she joined our office, she gained extensive experience at trademark agency Novagraaf in Amsterdam and Brussels, where she was responsible for, among others, the coordination and handling of large and complex trademark and design portfolios for international clients. Between 2010 and 2013, Frédérique has gained additional international experience as an in-house counsel for international brewing company AB InBev in Leuven.

Frédérique’s daily work activities include, inter alia, providing advice on the registration of trademarks and designs, performing availability searches, advising and negotiating in case of infringement and drawing up the necessary legal agreements, dealing with opposition procedures and grounds for refusal and the elaboration of IP (protection) strategies.

Frédérique has an active knowledge of Dutch and English, as well as a basic knowledge of French.
